Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of shooting some of the most gorgeous views on the planet from some pretty exclusive vantage points for the folks at the Kapalua Cliff House and the Ka‘anapali Resort Association. While I usually use old school, traditional methods to shoot landscapes, (polarizers, ND grads, etc.) I’ll often shoot for HDR in addition, if I have the time. It’s just pixels. I can always choose not to use them. Better to have them than not to have them. Besides, it gives me the opportunity to indulge in a little artistry and play with surrealistic renderings, whether or not I end up delivering the results to the clients (who usually end up wanting them anyway.)
Here are a few from the Kapalua Cliff House, a newly renovated, premier private event facility, overlooking Namalu Bay:
It’s not often I get to be in a position where I can capture the scenery from the roofs of some major Maui resorts. Here are some from a the rooftops of the Sheraton Maui and the Ka‘anapal Ali‘i:
In addition, I did some shooting on my own at the Maui County Agricultural Festival yesterday, held annually by the Maui County Farm Bureau, and got some fun HDR shots:
